Testimonials

I visited Dequin and completed a long mountain trek in the far North West area of China. Peter organised a donkey trek for me, when I was too tired to walk up the mountain. We were even the first guests in a newly opened guest house. He was great fun, entertaining us with jokes and stories, along with interesting facts and history. Peter was well organised and managed to get us to places I hadn’t imagined. Our trip offered an insight into real life of mountain people, and I have some fantastic memories. I would recommend travelling with Tibet Adventure Travel and look forward to my next trip with him.

Peter told me he was launching his new website, so I thought I should support him, as he took me on a very memorable tour of China last year.
He was an excellent guide. He took me to areas with wonderful scenery, and in the cities he knows great places to eat and drink. I wish him every success with his business.

Our trip of Tibet's finest destinations took us from Lhasa to the Everest Base Camp and Namtso Lake, through Shigatze. We left first thing on Monday morning, 08:30, just as planned with the first experience being a beautiful drive through the never ending country-side of Tibet.

The next day we continued our journey to the Everest. Our next stop was Shigatze where we spent only a few hours, since we were saving the sleep-over for the way back from Mt. Everest, or Qomolangma as the Tibetans call it. But, we did visit the big monastery of Shigatze - Tashilhunpo, the palace of the Panchen Lama. It's one of the most beautiful monasteries I've ever seen. Worth any effort made to get there. It is huge and of course hospitable, suiting the Tibetan way of life, you can be guided by a monk.

That day ended in one of the most beautiful places in the world – the small town of Tingry –where we got a first good look at the highest mountain range in the world, and got to see the brightest stars ever. You could actually feel you're closer to them.

After spending the night in town, we moved on to cross the military check point at the entrance to the Everest's surroundings, and from there, after a close encounter with some of the Tibetan kids we came to our destination – Mt. Qomolangma.

We stayed that night up in the mountain itself, in one of the properly warmed Tibetan tents waiting for visitors there. After organizing ourselves at our new accommodation and getting ready for the very cold weather that awaited us, we started making our way towards base camp at a height of 5208 Meters. We stayed a couple of hours there, admiring the highest peak in the world.

The following day we left quite early to get to Shigatze early, and spent the day there. The drive was, of course, amazing, and went without any troubles. We got to Shigatze early enough to enjoy a walk around town – in its lovely main street and surroundings, and to have an excellent dinner in one of the local restaurants.
Our final destination was the highest fresh water lake in the world – Namtso Lake it lies at an elevation of 4,718 m. Namtso is the highest salt-water lake in the world and is renowned as one of the most beautiful places in the Nyainqentanglha mountain range, featured in the BBC TV series Himalaya with Michael Palin. Located beautifully among the mountains of Tibet, its deep blue water is a spectacle.
The drive there, as promised, did not disappoint - numerous mountains and small lakes set a colourful background to that drive. In our group we became best friends and discussed how much we would miss each other at the end.

At Namtso Lake, we stayed at a local tent and had an excellent dinner, after a long walk around the lake that provided us the perfect final sun set of this trip. Photo-opportunities were countless, and we all enjoyed the perfect ending of that adventure.

We arrived at Lhasa that day, exhausted but so very pleased, the trip will not be forgotten easily.
